The Berkeley Yellowjackets came tearing into Friday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Irvington at home to the tune of 39-10. The result was nothing new for Berkeley, who have now won five contests by 25 points or more so far this season.
Berkeley had a senior duo take command as Deontae Faison threw for 206 yards and four touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes and Jalen Harris gained 113 total yards and three touchdowns. Faison is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last five games he's played.
Berkeley pushed their record up to 7-3 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.2 points per game. As for Irvington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
Berkeley will head out on the road to face off against El Cerrito at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. El Cerrito presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Berkeley in California (El Cerrito is ranked 88th, while Berkeley is ranked 481st). Irvington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
