After a string of six wins, the Baldwin Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 68-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eudora. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Baldwin came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while Eudora is ranked 146th).
Despite the loss, Baldwin still got an impressive performance from Joey Ziembicki, who scored 23 points. The matchup was Ziembicki's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Carr, who scored ten points along with six assists.
Baldwin's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-1. As for Eudora, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Baldwin will take on Ottawa at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Ottawa's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches. As for Eudora, they will head out on the road to face off against Bonner Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Bonner Springs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
