Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Burges Mustangs, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They had to suffer through a rough 57-6 loss at the hands of Rider. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.
Alex Rios threw for 121 yards and a touchdown. Devin Mata was his top target, picking up 60 receiving yards. On the ground, Kayleb Hannah rushed for 60 yards.
Kenji Johnson was on fire for Rider: he rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson's longest rush was for an incredible 72 yards. Rider also got a significant boost from Kevin Riddle, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 92 yards.
Burges' defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Rider, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Burges does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Rider will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake Dallas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lake Dallas' favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last three matches.
