Pecos has gone 9-1 against Mora recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Panthers will host the Rangers at 11:00 a.m. Pecos is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Pecos and McCurdy meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Bobcats with a sharp 25-9 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Nikko Bencomo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off one hit. Pecos is 2-1 when Bencomo allows three or fewer earned runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Bencomo was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Jeremiah Mondragon was excellent, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Pecos' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Joaquin Lopez was another key player, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Pecos was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2025.
Mesa Vista hit Mora with a five-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rangers came up short against the Trojans, falling 13-5.
Marcus Vigil made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Atencio, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Pecos' win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Mora, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
Mora's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Pecos has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Mora, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Pecos keep running through batters, or will the Rangers buck the trend?
Pecos got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2025 against Mora by a conclusive 16-0 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Rangers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
