Having just played yesterday, the Poly Engineers will get right back to it and host the Coppin Academy Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on February 6th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Poly waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 78-29 win over Edmondson-Westside at home. Given Poly's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Red Storm are ranked 105th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Poly's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mickelle Lowry led the charge by scoring 12 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was S. Brown, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Coppin Academy made easy work of the Rams on Monday and carried off a 46-21 win. The win was just what Coppin Academy needed coming off of a 65-32 defeat in their prior game.
Poly's victory bumped their record up to 17-1. As for Coppin Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Poly against the Golden Eagles when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 78-5 win. Does Poly have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
