The Elizabeth Minutemen had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Union Catholic on Wednesday and snuck past 55-52. With that victory, Elizabeth brought their scoring average up to 50.2 points per game.
Elizabeth's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jah'nae Lembrick led the charge by scoring 17 points along with six assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexandra Koon, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Elizabeth's win bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Union Catholic, they dropped their record down to 7-12 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elizabeth will take on Hillsborough at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Union Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Oak Knoll at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
