The Male Bulldogs had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They blew past Bullitt East 42-6 at home. The result was nothing new for Male, who have now won seven contests by 31 points or more so far this season.
Male had a senior duo take command as Shammai Gates rushed for 159 yards while picking up 9.9 yards per carry and Kolter Smith threw for 196 yards and two touchdowns while completing 84.2% of his passes. Max Gainey also helped out with an impressive 95 receiving yards.
Male's win was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1. As for Bullitt East, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
Male will be playing at home against Bullitt East at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bullitt East will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Male is ranked second). As for Bullitt East, they will head out on the road to face off against Male at 7:30 p.m. Male knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Bullitt East likes a good challenge.
