The Legacy Charter Eagles's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Victory Christian Academy Storm at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Hopefully Legacy Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Monday.
Last Monday, Legacy Charter beat Ridgeview Global Studies Academy by the very same score they won with last week: 34-24.
Mallory Daniels was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with seven steals. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Legacy Charter's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Kraus, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Victory Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Lakeland Christian last Tuesday, taking the game 47-34. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Victory Christian Academy.
Bianca Barroso continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a triple-double on 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 steals. Barroso is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Jenna West was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six steals.
Legacy Charter has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-11 record this season. As for Victory Christian Academy, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7.
Wednesday's game is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Legacy Charter have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Victory Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Legacy Charter was able to grind out a solid win over Victory Christian Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2022, winning 50-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Legacy Charter since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
