Northwest Crossroads Top Player Performances of the Week
Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!
Marco Castro Goes Supernova in Kankakee Valley Win
Kankakee Valley's five-game losing streak is now nothing but a memory thanks in part to Marco Castro. Castro turned in nothing short of a gem on Friday, rushing for 213 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per carry, and also picking up 32 receiving yards. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 105 rushing yards dating back to last season.
If the past is any indication, Castro could be in store for another big game when he takes on Munster on Friday. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Castro saw the Mustangs), he rushed for 320 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry.

Shearer Posts Huge Game in 61-58 Defeat
While Willy Shearer delivered a dominant performance on Friday, a win just wasn't in the cards for Hobart. Shearer was dynamite, rushing for 79 yards and three touchdowns. He has become a key player for Hobart: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise.
Shearer must have Hammond Morton's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. Shearer rushed for 230 yards and five touchdowns the last time he and the Governors duked it out back in October of 2023.

Brody Kalwinski Delivers Electric Performance Vs Munster
Winning always takes teamwork, but on Friday Brody Kalwinski stepped things up a notch to give Lowell the 'W'. Kalwinski was unstoppable, rushing for 43 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 123 yards and a touchdown on only seven passes.
Munster's probably not too fond of Kalwinski given he always seems to get the better of them. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Kalwinski saw the Mustangs), he rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries, and also threw for 39 yards and a touchdown.

A Season-Best Effort from Diego Arroyo Leads Kankakee Valley over Highland
On Friday, Kankakee Valley got the W thanks in part to Diego Arroyo playing the best football he has all season. Arroyo rushed for 22 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 127 yards and a touchdown on only ten passes.
Highland's probably not too fond of Arroyo given he always seems to get the better of them. When Arroyo last faced the Trojans back in October of 2023, he threw for 268 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes.

Colton Scott Delivers Best Effort of Season
Colton Scott produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Lowell to the win on Friday. Scott rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
Unfortunately for Munster, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Scott. When Scott last faced the Mustangs back in October of 2023, he rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
