Waynesfield-Goshen has won six straight games at home, while Cory-Rawson has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Tigers will host the Fighting Hornets at 4:00 p.m. Waynesfield-Goshen is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Waynesfield-Goshen is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Jackson Center just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 5-1 to Jackson Center. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, Waynesfield-Goshen couldn't push the score so high this time.

Tarynn Vorhes put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.
Vorhes wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Taryn Tate, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cory-Rawson). They blew past Ottoville 19-5 on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Like Waynesfield-Goshen, Cory-Rawson also got a great game from a two-way player: Katelyn Duffman. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Duffman was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Morgan McVetta, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Hazel Dixon, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Cory-Rawson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .679. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in ten consecutive games.
Cory-Rawson's victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Waynesfield-Goshen, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.
Cory-Rawson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Waynesfield-Goshen has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Cory-Rawson, though, as they've been averaging 11.2 hits. Given Waynesfield-Goshen's sizable advantage in that area, the Fighting Hornets will need to find a way to close that gap.
Waynesfield-Goshen took their win against Cory-Rawson in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 10-0 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Fighting Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
