The South Central Falcons will square off against the Greene Central Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as South Central comes in on six and Greene Central on three.
South Central proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 18) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Bunn 3-2. The three-run effort marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Chase White tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tyce Thompson, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.
Meanwhile, Greene Central hadn't done well against C.B. Aycock recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Rams walked away with a 7-2 win over the Golden Falcons.
Sutton Harris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.
On the hitting side, Austin Oliver was a standout: he got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Will Radford was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Greene Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as C.B. Aycock only posted an OBP of .300.
South Central's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Greene Central, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. South Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Greene Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
South Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Greene Central in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, winning 3-0. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
