The Northeastern Jets are taking a road trip to challenge the Riverside Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Northeastern is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Catholic Central with a sharp 17-0 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Jets in their matchups with the Irish: they've now won five in a row.

Kylee Williams and Renna Kelly made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Williams tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Kelly didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Williams has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Williams went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Kelly went 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave Williams a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ashlynn Bowsher was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Danielle Phelan, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Northeastern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.
Riverside let Covington stack four runs on them in the sixth inning on Tuesday but luckily Riverside prevailed anyway. The Pirates sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Buccs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pirates have posted since April 15th.
Riley Dillon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Miah Carman, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Zoey Ransbottom was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Northeastern's record is now 11-12. As for Riverside, their record now sits at 13-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Northeastern hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Riverside struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Northeastern skirted past Riverside 5-4 in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Jets repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
