On Saturday, the Campbell County Camels faced the Laramie Plainsmen in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Campbell County took down the Plainsmen 61-45. Winning may never get old, but Campbell County sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Campbell County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lauren Kuhbacher, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Kuhbacher scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Onna Castellanos, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Laramie lost, one person who can't be blamed is Addison Forry. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Forry is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kylin Shipman, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Campbell County has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Laramie, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
Campbell County and the Thunderbirds will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. East is coming into the match hot, having won their last eight games. As for Laramie, they and the Longhorns will face off at 3:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Rock River will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
