Westwood is 2-8 against Mountain View since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Westwood Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Mountain View Toros at 3:45 p.m. Westwood has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Westwood saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountain Pointe.
Hope Hutchins made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Emily Stacey, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Mountain View had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Coyotes a 15-0 shutout. Considering the Toros have won three matchups by more than ten runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Abbie Cameron was a standout: she scored four runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Keelie Goodman was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.
Mountain View's record is now 5-2. As for Westwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Westwood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. However, it's not like Mountain View struggles in that department as they've averaged .366. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Westwood might still be hurting after the 16-6 loss they got from Mountain View in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Westwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
