The Cornerstone Christian Academy Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 81-23 loss at the hands of Bishop Gorman. While losing is never fun, Cornerstone Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1603rd, while Bishop Gorman is ranked 515th).
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nason Dorman, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. That was a full 47.8% of Cornerstone Christian Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Cornerstone Christian Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Bishop Gorman racked up 16 assists.
Leading Bishop Gorman to victory were Carlin Ifeadi and Ryan Richbourg. Ifeadi scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Richbourg scored 16 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Ifeadi grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of David Phillips, who scored eight points along with two steals and two blocks.
Cornerstone Christian Academy dropped their record down to 2-13 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Bishop Gorman, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season.
Cornerstone Christian Academy will be playing at home against Coram Deo Academy on Friday. As for Bishop Gorman, they will head out on the road to take on Lakehill Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Lakehill Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Thursday.
