This season hasn't been kind to The Montgomery Central Indians, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They were beaten by Station Camp 44-7 on Friday. Montgomery Central was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-0.
When it comes to explaining why Montgomery Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Anthony Holland. Despite the final result, he gained 97 total yards and a touchdown. Holland was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 64 yards.
Station Camp's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayman Graham, who rushed for 64 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. Another player making a difference was Colton Overbey, who rushed for 26 yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Montgomery Central to a paltry 151 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Station Camp's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. Montgomery Central's QB won't forget Kyron Fielder anytime soon given Fielder sacked him five times.
Montgomery Central's loss was their 14th straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Pearl-Cohn and 9-0 Clarksville (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.6% over those games). As for Station Camp, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Montgomery Central will take on Greenbrier at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Station Camp, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Whites Creek on Friday. Whites Creek will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Station Camp is ranked 121st).
