Bethany Lewis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Antigo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tristin Arlen, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Wittenberg-Birnamwood's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Manawa by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Chargers couldn't push the score so high this time.
Rory Salvesen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Chloe Hanson, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.
Antigo's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Wittenberg-Birnamwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
Everything went Antigo's way against Wittenberg-Birnamwood when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Antigo made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Robins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
