In what's become a running theme this season, the Amelia County Raiders gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Nottoway as Amelia County made off with a 71-48 win. The victory was familiar territory for Amelia County who now have five in a row.
Amelia County was led to victory by JUSTIN PERRY and JAIDEN SQUIRE. PERRY almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, while SQUIRE scored 26 points along with three steals and two blocks. PERRY is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. ANTHONY HARRIS was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Despite the defeat, Nottoway saw an underclassman step up: Anton Carter Jr. dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Carter Jr. hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for 12 straight games. Another player making a difference was D'aunte Watson, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Amelia County has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Nottoway, they dropped their record down to 4-11 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Amelia County and the Chargers will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Nottoway, they will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
