Loveland is 3-0 against the Thunderhawks since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Loveland Red Wolves will head out on the road to take on the Prairie View Thunderhawks at 7:00 p.m. Loveland comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Tuesday, Loveland had to suffer through a rough 56-16 loss at the hands of the Tigers. While losing is never fun, Loveland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Tigers are ranked 34th).
Despite the loss, Loveland got a solid performance out of Autumn Rinehart, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Prairie View didn't have too much trouble with the Bulldogs on the road on Tuesday as they won 40-26. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Prairie View.
Prairie View got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Paige Walker out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. Walker hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Celicia Robles, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Loveland dropped their record down to 4-11 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.0 points per game. As for Prairie View, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Loveland beat the Thunderhawks 45-35 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Loveland since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
