The Desert Christian Academy Conquerors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season. They blew past Twentynine Palms 71-47. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Desert Christian Academy.
Augustine Youssef continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Desert Christian Academy's points. Jacob Reynolds was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Twentynine Palms' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adrian Crowell, who scored 18 points. That's the first time this season that Crowell scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden O'Gilvie, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Even though they lost, Twentynine Palms were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Desert Christian Academy's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for Twentynine Palms, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
Desert Christian Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on California Military Institute at 6:30 p.m. on January 9th. California Military Institute will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1353rd, while Desert Christian Academy is ranked 644th). Twentynine Palms and Cathedral City will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Cathedral City is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
