The El Camino Wildcats lost against the La Costa Canyon Mavericks back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. El Camino lost to La Costa Canyon on the road by a decisive 63-49 margin.
El Camino lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Devin Mcgee, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Pomare, who scored nine points.
El Camino's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for La Costa Canyon, their win bumped their record up to 17-6.
El Camino will be playing in front of their home fans against Torrey Pines at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Torrey Pines presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than El Camino in California (Torrey Pines is ranked 40th, while El Camino is ranked 151st). As for La Costa Canyon, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Santa Fe Christian at 5:00 p.m. on February 3rd. One thing working in La Costa Canyon's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matches.
