The Salome Frogs waltzed into their contest Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They skirted past Fort Thomas 31-29. Winning is a bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 21% better than the opposition, as Salome's was.
Salome's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaniece Thomas, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Thomas is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Grecia Leon, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Fort Thomas still got an impressive performance from Tyesha Wilson, who scored five points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Wilson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Salome is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Fort Thomas, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
Salome will be playing in front of their home fans against Mayer at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Mayer focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday. Fort Thomas will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Superior at 5:30 p.m. on January 9th. Superior comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last ten games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
