Patterson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
As for St. James, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. Wildcats fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against Patterson since Thursday.
On St. James' side, Jai Bright was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Bright has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Iyanna Howard, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Patterson will welcome A.J. Ellender at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.73 runs per game on average), something the Lumberjacks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for St. James, they will host Ursuline Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
