Valley Falls has been on the road for five straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Horton Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Valley Falls focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Valley Falls suffered a rough 66-42 defeat at the hands of the Bears. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Valley Falls in their matchups with the Bears: they've now lost three in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Korie Kirkwood, who scored 15 points along with three steals. That was a full 35.7% of Valley Falls' points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Brown, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Valley Falls struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Horton has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They took their match at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 54-14 win over McLouth. That looming 54-14 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Horton yet this season.
Valley Falls has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Horton, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-8-1.
Valley Falls took their win against the Chargers in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 52-30. Does Valley Falls have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chargers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
