The University School of Jackson Bruins came tearing into Saturday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Sacred Heart of Jesus by a score of 75-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Mills Terry continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten assists. It was the first time this season that he posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Smith, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Sacred Heart of Jesus lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being A J Morman, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten assists. Morman has been hot recently, having posted 20 or more points the last six times he's played. Keelan Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with two steals.
University School of Jackson pushed their record up to 18-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Sacred Heart of Jesus, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. University School of Jackson and the Lions will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. One thing working in Trinity Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests. Sacred Heart of Jesus' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th.
