Section 9 AA-I recap September 17, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Kevin Carr and Ricky Giraldo connected against Warwick. The connection was good for 66 yards, the longest such play in Section 9 AA-I this season.
Monroe-Woodbury was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Wildcats. The Crusaders came in at 13 in the state poll after placing at number 33 last week.
Monroe-Woodbury's dynamic duo of Carr and Giraldo proved to be unstoppable against Warwick, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Carr threw for 249 yards and 2 touchdowns and Giraldo had 113 yards receiving. Jesse Kaffenberger helped Monroe-Woodbury's passing attack out by catching 7 balls for 119 yards.
Pat D'Aliso's team's dynamic duo of Carr and Giraldo proved tough for Gregory Sirico's team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Carr put up the best numbers in passing as the Crusaders bested the Wildcats.
Giraldo was the best wideout in the league this week as Monroe-Woodbury topped Warwick.
Pat Dorrian was a passing and rushing force as Kingston topped Washingtonville. He completed 11 passes for 212 yards and also ran for 111 yards. Dorrian's key target this week was Cole Jordan, who caught 3 passes for 76 yards.
He went 15-21 with 0 interceptions.
Dylan Eller was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 164 yards on 23 carries as Pine Bush bested the Wildcats. Teammate Mike Martin added to the ground attack by rushing for 139 yards.
Leading Section 9 AA-I in both passing and receiving yards, the Tigers' Dorrian and Shawn Marchant have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback Dorrian has thrown for 392 yards this season, while Marchant has 11 catches for 167 yards. The Bushmen's Eller leads the league in rushing yards with 378.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between Monroe-Woodbury and Newburgh Free Academy. The Crusaders comes into the matchup ranked 13th in the state, while the Goldbacks ranks fifth.
Newburgh Free Academy took down Minisink Valley 49-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
