AAA Concorde recap Sept. 26, 2012
Chantilly moved up to 21 from 61 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AAA Concorde. The Chargers were able to make the jump by beating West Springfield 49-14.
Westfield extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Robinson, 24-21. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Centreville's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Scott Walter threw for 59 and one touchdown and Chase Heiner had 40 yards receiving. On the ground David Newell chipped in 110 yards. Marcel Smith helped Centreville's passing attack out by catching one ball for 16 yards.
Chad Wiggins made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Wildcats beat Herndon. The 6-foot-1 junior grabbed 4.5 sacks.
Thanks to the talents of Walter and AJ Turner Centreville has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Walter leads the league in passing with 390 yards, while Turner has rushed for 327 yards this season. Oakton's Kelly Brooks-muse leads the league in receiving yards with 133 on seven catches.
Chantilly was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Spartans 49-14. Mike Lalli's team came in at 21 in the state poll after placing at number 61 last week.
