Baseball Recap: Prairie Central Takes a Loss

Prairie Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Tri-Valley on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 10-8. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hawks of the 9-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

Prairie Central got a good showing from Nathan Aberle, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Will Skala was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Friedman, who scored a run and stole four bases.

This is the second loss in a row for Prairie Central and nudges their season record down to 2-6. As for Tri-Valley, the win keeps they at an undefeated 4-0.

Coincidentally, Prairie Central and Tri-Valley will both be playing Monticello the next time they take the field. Tri-Valley will head out to face Monticello at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Prairie Central will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
