Riverside-Durham is 2-8 against East Chapel Hill since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Riverside-Durham Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the East Chapel Hill Wildcats at 8:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Riverside-Durham pushed their score all the way to 61 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jordan. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Riverside-Durham in their matchups with Jordan: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the defeat, Riverside-Durham got a solid performance out of Corey Hairston Jr., who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Jaden Butler, who scored nine points along with 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, East Chapel Hill's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 58-41 to Hillside. While losing is never fun, East Chapel Hill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 351st, while Hillside is ranked 129th).
Riverside-Durham's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6. As for East Chapel Hill, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-10.
Riverside-Durham couldn't quite finish off East Chapel Hill in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 and fell 37-34. Can Riverside-Durham avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
