The Fountain Inn Fury will venture away from home to take on the Westside Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Fountain Inn comes in on four and Westside on six.
Fountain Inn is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Camden, sneaking past 4-2.
Halle Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.
On the hitting side, Peyton Kinsler was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Herring, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Westside was able to grind out a solid victory over Dreher on Tuesday, taking the game 6-2.
Jazelyn Robinson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Robinson was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Gray, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
Westside pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Fountain Inn, their record now sits at 14-7.
Thursday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fountain Inn has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .501. However, it's not like Westside struggles in that department as they've averaged .543. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fountain Inn couldn't quite get it done against Westside when the teams last played last Monday as they fell 10-5. Can the Fury avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
