Cactus extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 3-8. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Tolleson Wolverines. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Cobras have suffered since March 4, 2025.
Ciara Anthony put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Anthony was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Anthony wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Charley Enos, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Enos has hit this season.
As for Tolleson, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games.
On Tolleson's side, they got a great performance from Evelyn Escalante as she tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.
At the plate, Marina Lara was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Sammie Ortega, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Cactus has already played their next matchup (against Sunrise Mountain), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Tolleson, they will head out on the road to challenge Alhambra at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
