The St. Helena College and Career Academy Hawks suffered their biggest defeat since January 4th on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 67-45 loss at the hands of French Settlement. While losing is never fun, St. Helena College and Career Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 249th, while French Settlement is ranked 55th).
Maxwell Allison was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 14 rebounds for French Settlement. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Childers, who scored 14 points along with two blocks.
St. Helena College and Career Academy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for French Settlement, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 23-3.
St. Helena College and Career Academy will look to defend their home court on Friday against Independence at 7:30 p.m. Independence has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5. As for French Settlement, they will head out on the road to challenge Northlake Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Northlake Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
