Heights has gone 9-1 against Cesar E. Chavez recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Lobos at 7:00 p.m. Cesar E. Chavez took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Heights, who comes in off a win.
Heights is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Wisdom for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-0 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bulldogs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 458th, while the Generals are ranked 968th).
Heights can attribute much of their success to Kobe Miles, who threw for 178 yards and two touchdowns on only 16 passes, and also punched in one rushing score. Another player making a difference was Phelan Powell, who gained 51 total yards and two touchdowns.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Heights, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Kaden Cole, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Cesar E. Chavez was not able to break out of their rough patch last Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Sterling, falling 36-12. The Lobos were down 23-0 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Heights will have to contain Johntta Thomas as he made an impact in Cesar E. Chavez's last game. He picked up 91 receiving yards and one score. Thomas didn't just play on offense: he also made one tackle and defended three passes.
Cesar E. Chavez's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Heights, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Everything came up roses for Heights against Cesar E. Chavez when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 60-6 victory. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lobos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
