The Columbia Academy Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the Columbia Central Lions at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Columbia Academy is coming into the match hot, having won their last 14 games.
Columbia Academy gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Providence Christian Academy as they made off with an 11-3 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by eight runs or more this season.
Maine Metz looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jase Kincaid, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-5. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Gunner Skelton also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Columbia Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in ten consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Columbia Central got the win against Warren County on Wednesday by a conclusive 9-2. The Lions are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the sixth matchup they've won by 6+ runs this season.
Jack Beck was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Aiden Saum, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
Columbia Central is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Columbia Academy, their victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Columbia Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Columbia Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Columbia Academy skirted past Columbia Central 3-2 in their previous matchup back in March. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
