The East Aurora Blue Devils will challenge the Nardin Academy Gators at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Aurora is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
East Aurora barely beat Kennedy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blue Devils blew past the Bears 15-3 on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won three in a row.
Sage Rozanski made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Sabrina Sultana and Grace Gallo did most of the damage at the plate: Sultana scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Gallo scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Tessa Fowler was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
East Aurora was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Nardin Academy came up short against Nichols on Monday and fell 12-9.
Madison Scarpace made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Scarpace is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeline Dehn, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Nardin Academy now has a losing record of 1-2. As for East Aurora, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Nardin Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: East Aurora hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .404.
