Bernalillo has gone 7-1 against Los Alamos recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Spartans will challenge the Hilltoppers at 11:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Bernalillo took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Valley 16-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Spartans considering their two-run performance the game before.

Calandria Montoya made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. Montoya was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off three home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-4. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kylee Herrera, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Neiva Montoya was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Bernalillo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley only posted an OBP of .471.
Meanwhile, Los Alamos entered their tilt with Taos on Wednesday with 12 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 13. They were the clear victors by a 14-7 margin over the Tigers.
Malaya Haynes looked comfortable as she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Los Alamos got a massive performance out of Aaliyah Chavez, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Abagail Deherrera, who went 1-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Bernalillo's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-11. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Los Alamos, their record is now 18-5-1.
Saturday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bernalillo has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .542. However, it's not like Los Alamos struggles in that department as they've averaged .514. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
