The Weeki Wachee Hornets struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Central Bears had 19 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Weeki Wachee was outmatched by Central on the road and fell 88-47. Weeki Wachee was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-22.
Weeki Wachee lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Steven Martin, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. Jean Garcia was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeroen "JD" Watson, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The game was Watson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Villarroel, who scored 14 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds.
Weeki Wachee's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Central, their victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1.
Weeki Wachee will be home for the holidays to greet Crystal River at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Nature Coast Tech at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Nature Coast Tech will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 417th, while Central is ranked 58th).
