The Linden-McKinley Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 78-29 loss at the hands of Centennial. Linden-McKinley has not had much luck with the Stars recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Linden-McKinley saw an underclassman step up: Christiana Towns almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Towns has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times she's played.
Linden-McKinley struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Centennial racked up 21 assists.
Centennial's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kayla Houston, who scored 32 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Houston has scored at least a third of Centennial's points. Aza Corbett was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds.
Linden-McKinley has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Centennial, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Linden-McKinley will take on the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Centennial, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
