3A Region II District 14 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Crandall moved up to 536 from 620 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region II District 14. The Pirates climbed the ranks as a result of topping Wills Point 48-24.
Ford and Kaufman played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Ford eventually emerging with a 42-40 victory. Taylor Sikorsky ran for 175 yards in the win.
The Tigers' dynamic duo of Chase Pemberton and Jah Golden proved tough for Crandall to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Pemberton threw for 265 yards and two touchdowns and Golden had 115 yards receiving. Tre' Smith helped Wills Point's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 98 yards.
Wills Point's Pemberton and Smith have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Pemberton has thrown for 1958 yards this season, while Smith, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 44 catches for 785 yards. The Panthers' Sikorsky leads the league in rushing yards with 1167.
James Silkey of the Ford is only 72 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 139 carries Silkey has accumulated 928 yard this year.
A big matchup in 3A Region II District 14 this week will be when the Lions take on Todd John's team. As it stands, Kaufman is in second, while the Pirates are in third.
