The Elsberry Indians came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past North Callaway 57-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Elsberry has posted against the Thunderbirds since January 27, 2018.
Despite the loss, North Callaway still got an impressive performance from Isiah Craighead, who almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds. Sam Pezold was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six assists.
Elsberry is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. As for North Callaway, they dropped their record down to 6-15 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
Elsberry will take on the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bowling Green is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for North Callaway, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Higbee knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 contests -- so hopefully the Thunderbirds like a good challenge.
