Even though the Eagle Valley Devils have not done well against the Rifle Bears recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Eagle Valley took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 49-20 win over Rifle. That's another feather in the cap for Eagle Valley, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Eagle Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zakia Shreeve led the charge by scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and five steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Shreeve has scored at least 25% of Eagle Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reef Kenney, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Eagle Valley's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Rifle, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Eagle Valley won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Middle Park at 12:00 p.m. on December 16th. Hopefully Middle Park focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Thursday. Rifle will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Steamboat Springs at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Steamboat Springs comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
