Basketball Recap: Estero's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Estero came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 60-47 victory over the Ida Baker Bulldogs. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 495th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Estero was led to victory by Amiya Lewis and Callie Hall. Lewis went 10 of 22 en route to 22 points and seven rebounds, while Hall went 7 of 11 on her way to 14 points and seven rebounds. Lewis' evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Vaill, who posted nine points.

Estero smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Ida Baker lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Maia Berdebes, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Berdebes has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emilee Plummer, who put up nine points and seven rebounds.

Estero's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Ida Baker, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.

Estero didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-11 victory against Mariner on the 8th. As for Ida Baker, they will square off against Cape Coral at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
