The biggest upset of the week belonged to Union, who defeated 162nd ranked Scott Central, 40-24.
Fans got a thrill when Jason McCutheon and Cade Gibson connected against Clarkdale. The connection went for 60 yards, the longest such play in 2A Region 5 this season.
Enterprise's dynamic duo of McCutheon and Gibson proved to be unstoppable against the Bulldogs, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. McCutheon threw for 71 yards and 1 touchdown and Gibson had 69 yards receiving.
Chris Johnson provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Lake defeated Newton.
Cameron Stephens made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Bulldogs bested Clarkdale. He pulled down 1 interception and recorded 1 fumble.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Hornets' Matt Mitchell and Johnson have proven to be a lethal combination. Mitchell has thrown for 366 yards this season, while Johnson has 5 catches for 124 yards. Gibson from Enterprise leads the league in rushing with 879 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Lake takes on second place Union. Last week, Lake beat the Tigers, while the Yellowjackets bested the Rebels.
Jeff Breland's team extended the longest winning streak in 2A Region 5 this week by beating Newton, 33-3. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
