The West Craven Eagles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Ayden - Grifton and snuck past 54-51. That's another feather in the cap for West Craven, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
West Craven got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Amari Boomer out in front who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and three steals. Boomer has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shondre Pugh, who scored 13 points along with five steals.
Ayden - Grifton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jahmir Outlaw, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Hatteras Jenkins, who scored 11 points.
West Craven's victory bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Ayden - Grifton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-7.
West Craven will be playing at home against the Pam Pack at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Ayden - Grifton, they will challenge the Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Farmville Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 17 games -- so hopefully the Chargers like a good challenge.
