The Durant Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight defeat. They fell to Memorial 59-54. While losing is never fun, Durant can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while Memorial is ranked 72nd).
Memorial got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaiah Garrett out in front who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Garrett has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Fabian Harris, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Durant has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season. As for Memorial, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-6.
Durant will be playing in front of their home fans against Will Rogers College at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Will Rogers College focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Tuesday. As for Memorial, they will head out on the road to square off against Edison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Memorial has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 188 points over their last three matchups.
