The Widefield Gladiators struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (The Classical Academy Titans had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Widefield fell 48-38 to The Classical Academy. Widefield has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Gladiators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Michael Davenport, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Amari Taylor, who scored ten points.
It was another big night for Jordan Wenger, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds for The Classical Academy. That makes it four consecutive games in which Wenger has scored at least a third of The Classical Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Miller, who scored nine points.
Widefield's defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for The Classical Academy, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-7.
Widefield will be playing at home against Palmer at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Widefield is coming into the contest with eight straight losses at home, meaning Palmer will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. The Classical Academy will take on Falcon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Classical Academy is on a four-game streak of home wins, Falcon a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
