Smithfield-Selma won the last time they faced Southern Wayne and things went their way on Friday too. The Spartans took their match with ease, bagging a 42-7 win over the Saints. The Spartans' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Naeem Longmire had a dynamite game, rushing for 138 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Jeremy Smith made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Smithfield-Selma didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Smith and Noah Jeter. Smith got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Smithfield-Selma's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Southern Wayne, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-2.

Smithfield-Selma and Southern Wayne will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Spartans are set to square off against their familiar foe South Garner at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Southern Wayne will take on rival Southern Nash at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
