Olivier Rioux, the tallest teenager in the world according to the Guinness World Record Book, has committed to continue his basketball career at Florida in 2024.
Rioux stands 7-foot-6 and plays for
IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.), which is ranked No. 5 in the Preseason National Top 10.
A native of Canada, Rioux made the move to IMG as a 7-4 15-year old in 2021. He spent two years playing for IMG's second-tier team before joining the national team this season.
Rioux has played internationally for Canada in each of the past three summers, including the FIBA U19 World Cup in Hungary this year.
The three-star senior reclassified from 2025 to 2024 and will join the Gators next season. The 300-pounder picked Florida over offers from Stetson and 2023 Final Four squad Florida Atlantic.
Rioux's upbringing is similar to Zach Edey, who won the Naismith Award last season. Edey grew up in Canada before going to IMG Academy. Like Rioux, Edey also spent time with the Ascenders second-tier team before making the jump to the national team where he earned a scholarship to Purdue.
