The Draughn Wildcats will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Corvian Community Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. Draughn will be looking to keep their 13-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Friday, Draughn was beaten by Mountain Heritage 52-15. Draughn was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-0.
Nigel Dula put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Dula hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for six straight games.
Meanwhile, Corvian Community fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Mountain Island Charter on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Raptor 27-21.
Despite the defeat, Corvian Community got a solid performance out of AJ Jackson Jr., who rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns.
Even if they lost, Corvian Community's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Kamari Walker and his two sacks.
The losses dropped Draughn to 8-2 and Corvian Community to 5-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Draughn has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 216.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Corvian Community struggles in that department as they've been averaging 147.8 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
