Sunnyside never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Rincon/University Rangers with a sharp 16-0 victory. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Rangers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

EMRICK THOMPSON made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, JORDAN MAYBOCA and JORGE RUIZ did most of the damage at the plate: MAYBOCA got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while RUIZ went a perfect 5-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI MAYBOCA has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was MICHEL MUNIZ, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Sunnyside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rincon/University only posted an OBP of .059.

Sunnyside's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-8. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Rincon/University, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 16 of their last 17 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunnyside will face off against Rio Rico at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Blue Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Rincon/University, they will challenge Canyon del Oro at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Dorados will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Rangers surely won't give up without a fight.
